Three Children Portrait

Here is a a lovely portrait drawing. Previously I had never drawn 3 faces in one image before, complicates things because you are no longer just trying to get the proportions and scale of just 1 face, you have to think about them in relation to the others.

I was really pleased with this, it was a daunting task. These two images show a before and after stage. I hadn't quite caught the likeness and the hair needed changes. Only small and subtle changes though.

Horse and Carriage

This started off as a pencil drawing and evolved into a colour pastel piece by the end. I originally only intended for this drawing to be in black and white, but it became clear that colour would add a lot more depth and texture. Colour pastel A2

Frank the Cat

Here is one of my recent drawings for a friend; a portrait
of a cat. Above shows my quick sketches to see which position
I'd like to draw him in. Below final image drawn on A3 paper
with pencil.

1000 Bad Drawings

"All of you have one hundred thousand bad drawings in you.
The sooner you get rid of them, the better it will be for everyone." Chuck Jones

I am highly critical of my own
work, some would say too critical and
constantly strivefor perfection when it is
not possible. For every drawing I
am pleased with I
produce one that I dislike so I was inspired by the phrase
above that to improve my drawing skill I would have to first get out of my
system my 1000 drawings which then lead me to the idea that I should
document that process somewhere.

This space will be my visual quest to create and upload as often as possible
and hopefully see an improvement and evolution of my work and style. It
will also give you all a chance to see my work on a regular basis and help
motivate me to continually draw. The blog will not focus solely on drawing,
I will upload with all of my visual output which will also include work in 3D.
